Basics

Butamirate is a cough-suppressing drug used orally to treat irritable cough. Unlike codeine, it is not related to the opioids.

Butamirate has a half-life of 1-2 hours.

Drug Interactions

Interactions with butamirate may occur with concomitant use with expectorants, central depressant drugs, and alcohol.
