Sulphur is contained in numerous active pharmaceutical ingredients, e.g. in penicillins, but is also strongly represented in our bodies in the form of amino acids such as methionine and cysteine. In medical diagnostics, it is also used in nuclear medicine. Sulphur has a very specific smell of rotten eggs, which can often be detected in the vicinity of volcanoes.
