Basics

Sodium pyruvate is a homeopathic active ingredient used to treat chronic diseases with disorders of the body's own enzyme systems. Pyruvate is an anion of pyruvic acid. It is involved in various metabolic processes in our body, such as the citrate cycle or gluconeogenesis. During sporting activities in the anaerobic range, pyruvate is converted to lactate.

Effect

Sodium pyruvate is an important building block in energy production. It is metabolized in the liver and converted to acetyl coenzyme A, where it is then further metabolized to ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Pyruvate can also be metabolized into lactate, for example during exercise. It also has positive effects on the contractility of the heart and metabolizes glucose and fatty acids. Pyruvate plays a particularly important role in myocardial infarction by influencing the heart's beating power. The active ingredient is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and broken down by the liver.

Dosage

Always take sodium pyruvate exactly as described in the package leaflet or as advised by your doctor.

Adults:

The usual recommended dose is 22 mg 1-3 times a week .

The recommended dose for acute symptoms is 22 mg daily for 3 days.

Sodium pyruvate is used intramuscularly (application into the muscle), subcutaneously (application under the skin) or intradermally (application into the skin).
